If your household is anything like ours, year-end giving requires you to make tough choices. At Men Creating Peace, we also have to make difficult choices, but we will never choose to turn away a man in need.
Year after year, generous supporters like you have enabled or dedicated staff to meet the unique needs of men in our program. As the economy has faltered, the number of men referred to us by police and social workers has increased. In response, we have expanded our operations and have made ourselves more available in the domestic violence community. This expansion has allowed us to strengthen our ties to the community and our partner agencies and increase the depth of services we offer men who come through our doors.
Men Creating Peace was founded by a group of men who are graduates of the manalive™ program, with the mission of ending violence against women and children. Manalive™ was one of the very first models in the country for re-education of men and serves as a model within the domestic violence field. We receive calls from all over Northern California requesting information about our program.
Men Creating Peace has been offering manalive™ classes at Laney College since 2007, funded solely through our class tuition and donations. manalive™ is a valuable resource that should be available for all men and boys. While we plan over time to continue to expand the program, our main focus now is to insure that Men Creating Peace continues with a high quality staff and innovative information for which we are known.
To this end, we seek to:
- Create a strategic plan for manalive™. This expansion will be an online and national training center.
- Secure funding for staff and program operations.
- Increase the number of scholarships we provide to men who cannot afford the fees.
- Add more classes to our schedule.
- Provide stipends for graduates of the program who are motivated to become facilitators. It is difficult to complete the training without financial assistance.
Your donation will support the Men Creating Peace initiatives highlighted above. You may also designate your contribution to provide a partial or full scholarship for one or more men who cannot afford the program fees. Your donation will change lives.
